Sicilian Handicrafts
Sicily boasts a priceless historical, artistic and cultural heritage. It is also the place where the merging of cultures and the safeguarding of traditions find expression in the works of local handicrafts. Over the centuries, folk wisdom has expressed different kinds of handicrafts and real works of art have been created by the mastery of the local artists. The activities mainly concerned the production of artefacts as the legendary Sicilian painted carts, ceramics, mosaics, jewels made by coral, ivory and precious metals, as well as embroidery and laces.
