Thank you for your welcome home e-mail – it is very nice of you to think of
us on the day, and to want feedback on the trip. My apologies for not
getting back to you sooner, but we had several things to take care of once
we were home.
We are back in spirit and body, but our hearts are still in Sicily. It was
a terrific and successful trip. The places we saw were wonderful with a few
being higher on the scale than others, but all were excellent.
Fabio was a great guide and as a fellow photographer, movie buff
and Montalbano fan made the trip relaxed and even more interesting. In
fact, he knew more Montalbano sites than we did and so our Montalbano tour
was complete. Fabio was also easy going which meant we could stay as long
as we needed to at any given location. Our friend Sue, was excited about
seeing the Bar Vitelli and we sat and had coffee, lingered in the very spot
that Al Pacino, or should I say Michael Corleone sat, and even walked to the
church where the wedding took place and returned to Bar Vitelli for another
nostalgic visit.
We were delighted and absolutely loved Ragusa and the Hotel il Barocco – it
was excellent. The location and hotel made up for not being able to stay at
Montalbano House. And speaking of which, you can imagine my excitement at
seeing Montalbano House for the first time, in reality. Punta Secca was
very interesting and as we saw different locations for the Montalbana series
we realised how much the series has impacted on the economy of Punta Secca,
Sempieri, Scicly and Modica. Fabio took us to them all and was very patient
and also interested in the different locations.
So, overall, we were very pleased with the tour and the guide and the
itinerary. I must mention here that Fabio ate with us at all
lunches and not once did he have even one glass of wine which was
commendable to say the least (since he was driving). He was also a very
good driver and on those roads and with the small streets and tight turns in
a van, he was amazing.
Thank you for organising and making the trip possible and given us a wonderful experience.
Warmest regards,
Faye and Richard.
